Childcare students at Banbury's North Oxfordshire College are being taught the correct way to fit child car seats.
Julie Jones, Oxfordshire County Council's road safety officer, said: "Previous checks revealed that up to four out of five child seats are fitted incorrectly, and we are stepping up our efforts to reduce death and injury to car passengers."
She was at the college on Tuesday after tutor Barbara Saunders invited her to provide 'sit tight' training as part of the childcare course.
