Oxford City Stars started their double header weekend with a 10-2 victory over Flintshire Freeze on Saturday, but were foiled the next day when their match at Basingstoke Buffalo was abandoned due to dangerous ice conditions.
Stars took the first period 4-0 with goals from England Under 19 player Kris Abbott (3) and James Cameron, and the second period saw them add further goals from Abbott, Paul Donohoe and Derek Flint.
Daniel Summers, making an encouraging first appearance in senior ice hockey, created a number of chances, while net- minder Chris Roberts made a string of fine stops to keep Flintshire at bay.
More goals came in the third period via Ade Haigh, his first for the club, Simon Ferry and Alex Eberhardt, while the home side picked up a couple of consolations.
**Stars scorers: K Abbott 4+1, J Cameron 1+2, D Flint 1+2, S Ferry 1+2, A Eberhardt 1+1, P Donohoe 1+1, A Haigh 1+0.
