FA Carlsberg Vase
Alan Thorne is hoping his luck in the Vase will rub off on his Abingdon Town team when they take on Sussex League high-fliers Peacehaven & Telscombe at Culham Road in the first round on Saturday.
Thorne was assistant manager when Oxford City reached Wembley in 1995, and joint manager at Thame United when they made the semi-finals in 1999.
But this season, Town have been having a wretched time in Ryman League Division 3, where they are without a victory, having shipped 29 goals, and scored only six.
Thorne, who will be without suspended midfielder Neil Greig, said: "I think we just need a change in luck."
