The Bishop of Oxford, the Rt Rev Richard Harries, has been invited to a special birthday party in Berinsfield this weekend.
He will lead a Sunday morning service at SS Mary and Berin Church, to mark the 40th anniversary of the church's dedication, on October 21, 1961.
The Rev Simon Hill, vicar of the Wimblestraw Road church, said: "Many villagers can remember the church being built. The bishop was here for our 30th birthday too. It will be nice to have him back."
The 11am service will be followed by a lunch at Berinsfield Primary School.
The bishop will also dedicate new kneelers made by parishioner Isobel Hiles, and a new altar frontal and chasuble robe made by the Rev Jan Hiles.
