Oxford City kept their Section 1 title hopes alive in the Shaw & Co Oxfordshire Foursomes League with an exciting 2-1 victory over leaders Ellesborough at Southfield.
With the top two matches ending early with a win for each side, the result hinged on the final contest.
City's John Summers and Ian Bound hung on to a narrow lead over Cliff Pearce and Kevin Benton and then won the 18th for a two-hole victory.
So, Ellesborough's lead has been cut to two and a half points with just one game to play. That one match is a tough one - away to Frilford Heath this Saturday.
A draw for Ellesborough would clinch the title, while Frilford need to win at least 2- to overtake them.
City's last game is at home to Hadden Hill on November 1.
Frilford kept their hopes alive with a 2- victory at Lyneham, with Alex Gavrilovic and Andrew Elias being the only pair not to win.
In Division 2, leaders Tadmarton were surprisingly held to a draw by Hazlemere.
Witney Lakes beat North Oxford 3-0 to prevent Rye Hill being crowned Section 3 champions.
