Oxford University, the reigning Five Disciplines League champions, dropped only five points in their tie with Redefield A to take the lead Division 1 after the first round.
Heather Titcombe and Nick Raven won the mixed doubles for Redefield 15-14, 15-11.
Wantage dropped only ten points as they beat Park. Chris Gibbons's 15-8, 15-12 victory in the men's singles was was Park's only victor.
Feathers A halved their game with Radley & Oxon in the mixed and men's singles, while Gosford Hill A dropped only six points against Evenlode A, halving the mixed doubles.
Evenlode's Katharine Tustain and Gerald Hanson lost 15-10, before recovering to beat Nikki Barratt and Andrew Barratt 15-9.
