Ashton A have turned their fortunes around in spectacular fashion.

They sit proudly at the top of Premier/Division 1 of the Oxford & District League following their third straight win, this time over Oracle B.

It is not a bad start from a team who only narrowly avoided relegation last season.

Pete Fenn opened the proceedings for Ashton by beating Ray Benwell in two close frames, before Ray's brother, Andy, beat Terry Chambers to restore parity for Oracle.

The win was clinched by Tony Brayshaw, whose return to form helped him to overpower John Allen.

County B player Jimmy Ewers increased the Division 1 highest break this season to 41, but he was still on the losing side against Riley A.

Ewers's break came in the second of his frames with Nolan Aselford, who had taken the opener.

Not to be outdone, 14-year-old Oliver Hoeblyn made a break of 40 in the process of beating Neil Craycraft to put Riley's 3-1 ahead.

Alex Digweed won the first of his frames with Priyan Shah to secure Riley's win, with Shah taking the final frame.

Gerald Francombe made a welcome return to league action for Thame A against Oracle, but he was unable to stop them from suffering their first defeat.

Pom Merola and Lee Richardson traded frames, before Francombe succumbed to Steve Waters.

Karl Walker put Oracle 4-1 ahead, but Phil Collins recovered to take the last frame.

New A, last season's Division 1 champions, recorded their first win with a 5-1 victory over Thame C.

Crown House A head Division 2 following their 4-2 win against County B.

Oxford Snooker A have pulled away at the top of Division 3 following a 6-0 demolition of County C.

In Division 5, Riley I maintained their 100 per cent record with a 4-2 win over Littlemore RBL C to move to within two points of stablemates Riley H, who also boast three wins out of three.
