A monument to the victims of war is to be rededicated at Botley Cemetery.

The Cross of Sacrifice was restored two years ago by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission and Oxford City Council. North Hinksey Parish Council, which holds the annual Service of Remembrance in the cemetery, has since received a number of requests for the cross to be rededicated.

A short service will be held on Friday by Padre Jonathan Ball from the Royal Logistic Corps at Dalton Barracks, Abingdon, and a bugler will play the Last Post.

Members of the public are welcome at the 11am service, along with local civic leaders and representatives of ex-servicemen's and women's organisations.

November 2 has been chosen as it is All Souls Day, which commemorates those who have died through the ages.
