Banbury referee Dermot Gallagher, who is Thame United's commercial manager, has been told he won't officiate in the FA Barclaycard Premiership this weekend after failing to send off Robbie Keane on Saturday.

Gallagher only booked Keane after the Leeds United striker reacted to David Beckham's stern tackle by flooring the Manchester United midfielder with a two-handed push during the 1-1 draw at Old Trafford.

After the Oxford Mail broke the news to Gallagher that he was in hot water, the Banbury official spoke to Philip Don, manager of the newly-formed Select Group Referees.

Gallagher said: "The bottom line is he thought I should have sent Keane off and I have to accept that. As a consequence he is not going to give me a fixture this weekend.

"I have never complained when they have said I have done well so I am not complaining now when they say I have not done well. Such is life."

Gallagher, who may be given a Nationwide League match instead this weekend.
