Worthing 0, Thame Utd 2
Thame United returned home from the South Coast with maximum points after a polished performance at Woodside Road on Saturday in Ryman League Division 1.
United were always in control after starting brightly on a good surface that suited their slick passing game.
Steve Smith, making his debut in the Thame goal, had a comfortable afternoon with Thame's Mark West forcing an early save from home keeper James Wastell.
Mark Avery and Chris Potter instigated the move that led to the opening goal in the 13th minute.
Avery found Mark Jones and his clever feint set up Nando Perna, who crashed the ball home from outside the penalty area.
Wastell was again in action in the 17th minute, saving a Jones free kick at the second attempt.
Thame went further ahead in the 23rd minute when West played a ball into the path of Mick Swaysland, Wastell saved well with his legs, but Swaysland retrieved the ball and crossed to the far post, where Potter was on hand to head home.
Potter was unlucky not to increase the lead in the 32nd minute, when his sweetly-struck shot rebounded to safety off the upright with Wastell beaten.
Wastell was a busy man and he was again on hand to save a Mark West header with his legs after a pin-point cross from Perna.
The home side came out for the second half in more determined mood, but were unable to break down Thame's well-organised rearguard.
The Rebels did create a chance in the 58th minute, the league's leading goal scorer, Gavin Geddes, crossed to the far post, but Mark Burt failed to get a shot on target.
Thame were content to frustrate the home side with neat possession football.
Lee Weston fired a long-range effort over the bar in the 68th minute as the home side became more desperate. Smith made a good save late on from Ben Carrington.
**Thame Utd: S Smith, Saulsbury, Avery, Brown, Williams, Jones, Potter (Lee, 68), Perna, West, B Smith (Curran, 72), Swaysland (Steward, 83).
