Two Headington Roadrunners teams competed in the 33rd annual Karrimor International Mountain Marathon in Scotland.
With 1,400 teams of two starting on Saturday morning, carrying tents, sleeping bags, food and other survival equipment to ensure they were self-supporting for 36 hours, Jethro Lennox and Gary Harris finished second in their B-class event, they were just 30 seconds behind the winners in a combined time of 8hrs 58mins 25secs.
In the A-class event, Roger Thetford and Crispin Hetherington finished in 19th position overall with a combined time of 12.56.48.
The event was held in seven different classes, ranging from 60km to 80km, with thousands of feet of altitude gained and lost over the two days.
