Oxford Braves were celebrating after seeing off Bristol Bombers 88-83 to reach the second round of the National League Shield at the Magdalen Centre for Sport.
Bristol, undefeated so far this season, included several top National League players including Panji Grainger, an England international.
The Braves got into early foul trouble, but the first quarter ended all square at 24-24.
In the second quarter, Bristol turned up the pressure to edge ahead 44-40, but they hit back to take the third 63-61 thanks to a last-second shot by Chanta Weathers.
The final quarter brought the 200-strong crowd to their feet as Braves triumphed by five points.
Top scorers: C Weathers 22, A Crawley 15, E Brown 12.
