Abingdon Town stretched their unbeaten run to three games as they beat Division 2 side Ashford Town in the Isthmian League Cup preliminary round at Culham Road last night.
Andy Frost threatened for the visitors, but the home side responded through Tristan Didcock, who fired home after a fine dribble on 28 minutes.
Abingdon went close minutes later, but Roger Charles somehow shot wide from ten yards.
Mickey Torres had to make a good save from Scott Todd, while Luke Beauchamp cleared off the line.
Neil Greig and Paul Sherwood had efforts before the latter scored a penalty after Jon Gardner was brought down in the box on 85 minutes.
Two minutes later, it was 3-0, Paul Sherwood tapping home following a mix-up in the
Ashford scored through Richard Butler but it was too late.
