There's a distinct possibility of a dramatic three-way play-off to decide the Shaw and Co Oxfordshire Foursomes League championship following Frilford Heath's tense 2- victory at home to Ellesborough.
This result means that Ellesborough and Frilford finish their Section 1 programme on the same points.
The way is now open for Oxford City to claim the title when they entertain faltering Hadden Hill on Saturday, November 17.
However, should City win that contest 2-1, they, too, would draw level with Ellesborough and Frilford.
According to the rules, if teams are level on points, the results of the match between the respective clubs, come into consideration.
However, all three teams are level in their contests with each other, which would mean a headache for the organisers, with a three-way play-off on a neutral course.
Frilford, who needed a maximum victory over Ellesborough in their last match to overtake their Bucks opponents, looked like doing so at one stage.
Despite faltering after being three up with three to play, Frilford's Tom Fleming and Alex Gavrilovic held on for a one-hole victory in the top match.
Then Matthew Briggs and his partner Andrew Elias - a late replacement for Matthew Haddy, who had his car broken into overnight - recorded a 2 & 1 victory.
So, all depended on the middle match in which Frilford captain Ashley Walton and Barry Mann were one up on the 18th tee against Roddy Crisp and David Eldridge.
However, Crisp chipped to six inches for a winning birdie at the last to rescue a valuable half, and set up an intriguing climax.
Burford's defeat by bottom club Brailes means that they are not yet out of the danger zone at the bottom of Section 1.
There's still some way to go in Section 2, where The Oxfordshire closed to within a point of leaders Tadmarton Heath with a whitewash over Waterstock.
Rye Hill are the Section 3 champions after a convincing success over Carswell.
