Oxford Veterans, newly-promoted to Veterans Midland League Divsion 2, drew their opening encounter 5-5 against Kidderminster.
Oxford were always trailing, but fought back bravely from 5-3 down to grab a valuable point.
The turning point for Oxford was Ian Arnold's match against Andy Barlow, who had already won his previous two games.
However, the attacking Barlow had no answer to Arnold's close-to-the-table blocking style and Oxford edged their way back into the game.
Arnold then teamed up with Chris Lansley to clinch the draw by winning a tight doubles game.
