Morrells Oxford Sunday League round-up
ROSE Hill kept up their lead at the top of the Premier Division after a fine 10-3 win over struggling Oxford Supporters, writes GEOFF BOWER.
Justin Ford grabbed a double hat-trick, Kevin McMahon a treble and James Ford one,
Star Wanderers also improved their position with a battling 4-2 victory over Highfield.
Ian Edge gave Highfield the lead after 24 minutes but Craig Simpson's penalty gave Wanderers the lead, with Michael Dove heading in off a post after 75 minutes to increase their advantage.
Shortly afterwards, a Stef Hupalo cross was turned into his own net by Darren Malsey to give Highfield hope, but Ron Sutherland drove home to secure the points for Star.
In Division 1, Cowley Social Club continued their winning ways with a hard-fought 3-1 victory over White Horse.
A Steve Hilsden penalty and a Colin James strike gave Cowley a 2-0 lead but Horse struck back through Paul Robinson.
Cowley upped the tempo but it wasn't until the last minute that Mattie Bowden's goal sealed the win.
Masons Arms secured their first win of the season at Charlbury in style, 4-1.
A string of fine saves from their keeper Glen Norris helped them to a 4-1 victory.
Matthew Crook netted a brace and Mark Purvis and Andy Wheeler grabbed one each for Masons.
Meanwhile in Division 2, leaders North Oxford CC maintained their perfect record with a 6-2 win over Oxford YMCA.
YMCA went ahead with a fine header by Michael Yearwood, before Andy Wheeler equalised.
In the second half, Yearwood scored his second goal as YMCA again took the lead.
However, North hit back with Paul Bough and Julian McCalmon both netting a brace, and Wheeler grabbing his second for the win.
Northway's early-season form seems to have deserted them as they crashed 4-2 at home to Sporting Launton.
A superb Steve Phillips strike and a goal from Karl Gray was all Northway could manage despite creating several openings.
Lyford grabbed a brace, Thompson and Hopcroft one each for Launton.
Star Wanderers Res slumped to a 5-1 defeat at Stadhampton, Matt Long grabbing their consolation goal.
In Division 3, Woodchip Wanderers' fine form continued with a comfortable 7-1 victory at South Leigh.
Mike Greenall scored a hat-trick on his Woodchip debut.
Their other goals came from Phil Nolan (2), Stewart Donald and Chris Beechey. Dave Meredith netted South Leigh's consolation.
Roebuck got back to winning ways with a 5-1 victory at British Biotech.
With Kevin James putting in an outstanding display at the heart of their defence, Roebuck dominated the game.
Gary Rudman netted a fine hat-trick, Chris Waine converting a penalty and Craig Carter grabbing one, Biotech's consolation coming from Daz Ophee.
Arncott's game with Morris Motors Res ended after 65 minutes when the referee abandoned the game due to continued abuse he received from one of the spectators.
The home side went behind before captain Derek Moore levelled from the spot in the 20th minute, after Chris McMillan had been brought down.
Motors regained the lead after 25 minutes but Bob Docherty brought Arncott level.
Moore smashed home a free kick from 25 yards to put Arncott in front ten minutes into the second half, before the game was called off.
In Division 4, North Oxford CC Res gained their first win of the season with a well-deserved 5-1 win over Carriers Arms.
Phil Weller, had a day to remember, scoring a brace on his debut, while Adam Cowling hit Carriers' consolation.
Athletico BST got their act together and secured their first victory in Division Five 5-1 over Prince of Wales. Neil Ash scored four times, while their keeper Kevin Pipkin added a penalty.
