The generosity of Oxfordshire people was being marked today (Thurs) at a ground-breaking ceremony to celebrate the start of construction of the new Sobell House Hospice.
The hospice charity launched its £3.5m 'Raise the Roof' campaign in March this year and reached its target by June, entirely by voluntary donations.
Supporters of the charity, volunteers, and hospice staff were gathering at the Churchill Hospital for the ceremony, which was also being attended by the Lord Lieutenant of Oxfordshire, Hugo Brunner, Neil Ashley, chairman of the Oxford Radcliffe Hospital Trust, and its chief executive, David Highton.
