Two brothers accused of attacking an HGV driver, his passenger and police officers in a drunken brawl will have to wait until Monday for a verdict.
Jurors at Oxford Crown Court retired yesterday to consider the case against John Cronin, 29, of Kingsclere Road, Bicester, and Daniel Cronin, 33, of Bassett Avenue, Bicester, who both deny assault and using threatening words and behaviour.
The brothers are alleged to have attacked lorry driver Steven Brand and his passenger, Paul Bankcroft, on March 25 at 11pm in Sheep Street, Bicester.
When police arrived John Cronin is alleged to have hit Pcs Nick Parker and Philip Hollioake. His brother is also alleged to have hit Pc Hollioake.
John Cronin told the court the lorry beeping and flashing its lights frightened him and he thought the driver wanted to fight him. The brothers said Pc Hollioake threw Daniel Cronin against a car bonnet and punched him.
