A new section of the Sustrans National Cycle Network has opened in Oxfordshire.
The link between Oxford and Radley, which forms part of the Hanson Way route to Didcot, was officially opened by the Lord Mayor of Oxford, Cllr Peter Moss.
The route, which features a kissing gate sculpture at Kennington designed by local artist Paul Amey, was created through a partnership between Sustrans Oxford City and Oxfordshire County Councils, the Millennium Commission and the Hanson Environment Fund.
The network of 6,000 miles of safe routes for cyclists is a Millennium project backed by £43.5m of Lottery funding.
Tim Snowdon, Sustrans' fundraising director, said: "The Oxford to Radley path is a highly important one for local people, since it links a number of towns which have high levels of cycling."
Cllr Moss said: "I'm pleased Oxford is at the hub of the National Cycle Network, the most imaginative and only truly nationwide project to mark the Millennium."
