Conservatives in south Oxfordshire are celebrating after a significant district council by-election victory.
Their candidate, Joanna Hunt, won in Sonning Common, which means the Tories are now the largest group on South Oxfordshire District Council, with 21 members.
An alliance of the 18 Liberal Democrat and seven Labour councillors still holds power, but if the four Independents align with the Conservatives on an issue, voting could be tied 25:25.
Council chairman Eleanor Hards (Lab) would then have to use her casting vote to break the deadlock.
