Didcot's annual fireworks spectacular at the Loyd recreation ground passed off safely as more than 2,000 enjoyed a superb display.
Following problems with hooligans after last year's event, jorganisers Didcot Rotary Club and the chamber of commerce engaged a security firm to ensure crowd safety.
Rotarian Basil Pryor said: "Crowd safety is always our highest priority -- we are pleased that it all went off without a hitch."
Mother-of-three Kate Brown, of Wantage Road, said: "We have been coming for eight years and this was the best organised and definitely the best fireworks display."
Most spectators also responded to an appeal to leave cars at home to prevent congestion.
Organisers were confident of making more than £5,000 which will help pay for the town's Christmas Street Fair on November 29, and help Rotary charities.
