A build-up of traffic on the M40 on Sunday night has been blamed for two accidents involving lorries.

No-one was hurt in the first incident involving two cars and a lorry, on the southbound carriageway near Wendlebury, just before 5pm.

Minutes later on the northbound carriageway between Banbury and Ardley, a car driver suffered minor injuries in a crash involving another lorry.

A police spokesman blamed the volume of traffic for the accidents.

"For a Sunday, it was fairly okay, but around tea time the build-up suddenly took off as it got dark," he said.
