A child who has achieved something special this year is wanted to switch-on Bicester's Christmas lights.
People are being asked to nominate a youngster who has overcome difficulty or hardship, worked extra had at school, helped the community or made a difference to someone else's life.
The competition is open to children in three age categories - five to seven eight to ten; and 11 to 16. A winner from each category will receive a trophy and a prize, and one of the three winners will be selected to switch on the lights in Market Square on November 29.
Nominations, including a 30-word statement on why a child should be chosen should be sent to Shining Star Award, Anna Francis, Bicester Arts Officer, The Courtyard Youth Arts Centre, Launton Road, Bicester, OX26 6PS, by Wednesday, November 14. They should also include the name, address, postcode and telephone number plus the nominated child's name and age.
