A driver had a lucky escape when his car careered off the road in bad weather and his windscreen was impaled by a fence post at head height.
Police received a call from a man at 8.30am yesterday to say his car had left the A4074 Oxford-to-Wallingford road, near Sandford-on-Thames.
He told police he was unhurt after the car collided with a road sign, and said his wife had arrived to pick him up.
Police later recovered his V-registered black Mercedes sports coupe. They also removed 30ft of wooden fencing which had been damaged in the accident.
A police spokesman said: "We have this down as a fairly minor accident."
