Police are continuing to search for a scarred man three weeks after a possible attempted abduction of a ten-year-old girl in Oxford.
Officers followed up a list of leads given by members of the public following release of an e-fit image of a man who jumped out of bushes at the junction of Waynflete and Claymond Roads as the girl walked to Bayswater Middle School, in Bayswater Road, Barton, at 8.10am, on Wednesday, December 12, last year.
The man, who had a distinctive curved scar running from his right eye to right cheek, grabbed the girl and shook her. She screamed and managed to break free.
A police spokesman said: "Thanks to the media appeal where we issued the e-fit of the offender, we have had a very good response.
"A number of people contacted us suggesting several possible leads. We're extremely grateful to the public for contacting us, as public appeals for assistance are essential to police work.
"However, despite the many calls we received, we're still trying to identify this man and inquiries are continuing. "
The girl believed she recognised the man as the same person who had followed her in September. Another pupil said the same man had been seen acting suspiciously near Bayswater Middle School.
Anyone with information can call Det Con Emma Garside on 01865 266333 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
