Confusion reigned for a time when the Oxfordshire FA sent out the wrong draw for the fourth round of the Sam Waters Cup to be played this Sunday.
The 16 leading Sunday clubs left in this prestigious competiton, whose secretary is Peter Begley, were bemused when told they were playing different opponents than they had expected.
The draw is predetermined at the start of the season, with every tie either numbered or lettered in the Oxon FA handbook.
"Unfortunately the person making the draw used last year's letters by mistake," explained OFA secretary Ian Mason.
"We could have ignored the mistake, but that would not have been right. All the clubs have been told the new draw with letters of apology," added Mason.
Earlier this season, the draws for the early rounds of this well-known competititon went out under the heading of the Sam Walters Cup!
