Less than four years ago Trevor Bayliss was at the wheel of a bus. Today he is the new assistant operations manager at the Oxford depot of Stagecoach.
Mr Bayliss, 36, was working in the retail sector when he answered an advertisement for bus drivers in the city.
Within two years of joining Stagecoach he had become a relief controller in Oxford and shortly afterwards was promoted to depot controller, responsible for the running of services in the city.
In his new role, his duties have been extended to include personnel as well as operations and he also has responsibility for the Stagecoach travel shop in Gloucester Green.
And if the company is ever short of drivers, he is still qualified to get back behind the wheel of a bus.
He said: "It's driving that brought me into the bus industry in the first place and I have a lot to be grateful for. I never imagined I would progress so far in such a short time."
