Banbury Utd 2, Burnham 2
Banbury let slip a two-goal lead inside the first ten minutes and had to make do with a Dr Martens Eastern Division point against Burnham at The Stadium on Saturday.
The home side went ahead in the fourth minute. Matty Gooderick, fit again after missing the last four games through injury, was brought down as he darted into the penalty area, and Ben Milner sent David Smalley the wrong way with a cleverly taken spot-kick.
It got even better for Banbury five minutes later when Jody McKay forced a corner on the left. Liam O'Neill took the flag-kick, and with Milner unsettling the Burnham rearguard, Gooderick nipped in at the near post to head home and put United 2-0 up.
The visitors gradually got back into the game and pulled a goal back in the 27th minute, shortly after hitting the post, when Micky Durkin netted from ten yards.
At the start of the second-half, Banbury looked more positive, but they were pegged back in the 60th minute. They failed to defend a left-wing corner, and Jon Norris bundled the ball over the line from close in.
Once Matty Travers and George Redknap had joined the fray, Banbury improved, and started to match Burnham again, but overall a draw was probably the best that they deserved.
Banbury: Tricker, Wallbridge, Joyce, Sullivan, Simpson (Travers 66), Fuller, Corbett, O'Neill (Redknap 75), Milner, Gooderick, McKay. Sub not used: Muckelberg.
Attendance: 271
