A motorist who collided with a stationary car was breathalysed and said he was surprised to be over the limit.
Ian Hurley, 25, of Manch Cottage, High Street, Drayton St Leonard, was fined £100 with £55 costs and banned from driving for a year when he admitted driving with excess alcohol on Christmas Eve.
At Didcot Court, Helen Waite, prosecuting, said Hurley was driving a Volvo 240 when he collided with a stationary Vauxhall Omega outside Pebble Hill Caravan Park, Radley, at 11.l5pm.
A breath test showed 57 micrograms of alcohol per 100ml of breath -- the legal limit is 35 micrograms.
Hurley, who is employed at an animal sanctuary, said: "I was not aware I was over the limit.
"But I had had nothing to eat all day."
He was given the option of a three-month reduction in his disqualification if he underwent a drink-driving rehabilitation course.
