Wallingford Lions have just completed 25 years' of service to the community, and are ready to start on the next 25.
Founding president Alan Kings presided over the Lions' silver anniversary.
He said: "There seems to be more and more need for volunteer organisations like ourselves, Rotary and Round Table.
"I think everyone hoped the need for volunteers would diminish over the years as people became more caring.
"Over the last quarter century we have raised more than £100,000 for local and national charities, and we are proud of our record. We organise the annual raft race on the Thames, the Shrove Tuesday pancake race, and many other events, including the Christmas charities bazaar.
"We are now ready to start the next 25 years, though some of us may never make it to the 50th anniversary.
"Whatever we do, it will be for the good of Wallingford and Didcot."
The Lord Lieutenant, Hugo Brunner, was the main guest as the members of Wallingford and Didcot Lions Club celebrated.
Both town mayors, Theresa Jordan and Jeremy Goff, praised the club's work.
