Betting shop assistant Ann Price decided she would become a traffic warden for six months because she wanted to enjoy the fresh air.
After 22 years, she has received a long service award and has been promoted to head traffic warden for the Northern Oxfordshire Thames Valley Police area, which includes Banbury, Bicester, and Witney.
She said: "I love the job.
"I've had plenty of amusing and interesting experiences, I may write a book when I retire," she said.
One of her experiences includes being reprimanded for wearing a garland of flowers on her hat while on duty in Woodstock, after the town was criticised in a national garden competition for being short of flowers.
