Nuneaton Boro 3, Banbury Utd 1
Banbury bowed out of the Birmingham Senior Cup in the third round last night, but were far from disgraced against a strong Nuneaton side.
The Nationwide Conference club included 12 players who were in the squad that had beaten Stevenage Borough on the previous Saturday.
Banbury, without captain Jon Corbett and Tony Joyce, gave as good as they got in the opening 20 minutes before Borough went ahead through Lee Charles.
After the break, Nuneaton quickly made it 2-0 via Marc McGregor, and substitute Alex Sykes increased the lead in the 73rd minute.
Banbury managed a well-deserved consolation goal in the 82nd minute through Matty Gooderick.
Banbury: Tricker, Wallbridge, Muckelberg, Sullivan, Simpson, Fuller, M Travers (Essex 78), O'Neill (Redknap 55), Milner, Gooderick, McKay (L Travers 78).
Attendance: 256.
