Headington Roadrunner Richard Bromley narrowly missed out on an individual medal in the Leicestershire Cross Country Championships on Saturday.
Bromley finished fourth in a very strong field in the senior men's race, which was won by Steve Platts, of Morpeth, closely followed by Gareth Deacon, of Coventry Godiva, and Nigel Stirk, of Tipton.
Bromley finished a further 20 seconds behind, but despite missing out on a top-three place, he had the consolation of leading his OWLS club to victory in the team event. So he still returned home with a gold medal.
