A burglar threw a rock through the window of his parents' home after they discovered he had committed a break-in, a court was told.
Heroin user Robert Keene, 29, of Colesbourne Road, Bloxham, near Banbury, stole 14 pieces of jewellery and three Victorian decanters from a house in Little Bridge Road, Bloxham, on December 10, last year.
Nigel Povoas, prosecuting, told Oxford Crown Court that when Keene returned to his parents' home with items taken in the burglary, they challenged him. Keene became violent and threw a large rock through the front window of the house.
Judge Mr Andrew Burrows jailed Keene for six months after hearing that the burglary was committed while he was on a community service order and drug treatment programme for theft and possession of heroin.
