Oxford Night Shelter has warned people to be on their guard against bogus collectors who claim to be working for it.
The shelter has had two complaints about people, who claim to be working for the organisation, making bogus door-to-door collections in the east of the city.
They were told bogus collectors were knocking on doors and approaching people in the Cowley and Iffley Road areas. The bogus collectors said they were collecting money for the Night Shelter, which provides overnight accommodation for homeless people.
A spokesman for the Luther Street shelter said: "Oxford Night Shelter has not organised any collections of any sort and would like to stress that these people are not working for them.
"Please be aware that you should always make sure that collectors are licensed."
