FIROZ Kassam has asked Oxford United officials to begin the process of seeking funding for a fourth stand at The Kassam Stadium, writes JON MURRAY.
The stadium, which United moved to from the Manor Ground at the start of the season, was initially built - after lying derelict for three years - with just three main stands to keep costs down, but even then it still amounted to more than £15m.
Having one open end, with just a fence behind the goal, has proved unpopular with supporters because the atmosphere is reduced.
Writing in today's matchday programme, Kassam highlights the benefits of building a fourth stand.
Building work has already begun on the hotel adjacent to the stadium and this should be completed by July.
Officials are likely to investigate the possibility of a lesiure group funding the fourth stand.
