Oxfordshire made a winning start to their county campaign with a 48-34 victory over Norfolk.
The sides were closely matched for the first 45 minutes, but then Oxon pulled away. Impressive defending from the Oxon girls kept out the Norfolk attack, while some excellent shooting in the last quarter increased the margin of victory.
Oxon's next game is against Jersey at Portsmouth in two weeks' time.
Norfolk were unable to field teams at 2nd and under 18 level, but it gave the Oxfordshire coaches time for some fine tuning before the next game against Jersey as they played a practice match against each other.
The under 18s performed extremely well before losing out 37-32.
Meanwhile, Oxon Under 14s A lost narrowly to Norfolk, despite some accurate shooting from Stacey Owen and Nicky Risato, but the B string triumphed against their counterparts.
