Cyclists using a newly resurfaced footpath in Grove are posing a safety risk to pedestrians including schoolchildren, according to councillors.
The Joint Environmental Trust for Grove and Grove Paris Council are to raise concerns with Oxfordshire County Council after complaints were received about cyclists racing along a narrow path, which connects the Bay Tree pub, Denchworth Road, Grove, with Old Mill Hall and Millbrook County Primary School.
The trust provided the £4,500 needed to resurface the path when the county council said it could not pay for the work.
Now the work is complete and the path has re-opened but cyclists are using it, and putting walkers at risk of injury, according to trust members.
The trust has agreed to write to the county council expressing its concerns.
Trust spokesman and Vale district councillor for Grove Zoe Patrick said: "It's a very popular path for parents taking kids to school and it is very well used. But cyclists ride from the shops by Old Mill Hall and carry on riding down the footpath. Obviously cyclists and pedestrians don't mix. The cyclists should not be there and some members are concerned."
