Wallingford's mayor Theresa Jordan is out of action after injuring herself when she fell off her bike.
Ms Jordan broke a kneecap and bones in her thumb, and damaged her jaw.
She said: "I don't know how it happened but I fell off my bike on the corner of Thames Street and High Street. I am all strapped up and out of action. But I hope to be up and about again very soon."
She missed chairing this week's town council meeting which was taken by her deputy, Betty Atkins.
