The headquarters of RAF Brize Norton's newly reformed No 99 Squadron has been officially opened.

The station commander, Gp Capt Neil Jagger cut the ribbon with Wg Cdr Malcolm Brecht.

No 99 Squadron took delivery of its first C17 Globemaster cargo aircraft in May.

By August it had all four aircraft in squadron service.

The C17 aircraft has been used to transport more than 3,000 tons of military freight in support of major exercises and operations in Afghanistan.

No 99 Squadron was disbanded in 1975, after a long period of service.

The reformation of the squadron will be celebrated on February 7 with a ceremonial parade and fly-past.
