Derby County's directors are searching for a new manager following Colin Todd's sacking yesterday after just three months and 17 games in charge.
No sooner was Todd, a former Oxford United defender, out the door than Derby were distancing themselves from speculation that striker Fabrizio Ravanelli would be appointed player-boss.
Reserve-team manager Billy McEwan will take charge for Saturday's crucial home game against fellow strugglers Ipswich.
