'Spending a penny' proved expensive for a young man who had to pay out £105 in a fine and costs. Magistrates were told police spotted James Callaghan on the footpath in Bath Street shortly after 11pm on August 2 last year urinating against a wall.
At Didcot Magistrates' Court, Callaghan, 22, of Sadlers Court, Abingdon, said: "It was stupid. I should have found a toilet. It won't happen again." He said he had been drinking, and the chairman of the bench, Benjamin Ballard, described his behaviour as disgusting. Callaghan, who admitted urinating in a public place, was fined £50 with £55 costs.
