Matt Maudsley, Oxford Harlequins' head coach, is looking forward to meeting his former Henley clubmates when the two clubs clash in the quarter-finals of the David Charles Oxfordshire Cup next month.

Quins entertain cup-holders Henley, who field their second team in this compettiton, at Horspath Road on Sunday, February 17.

"It will be good to test ourselves against a strong side, to see what progress we've made this season," said Maudsley, whose team lead the Southern Counties North League.

"We've had too many easy games this season, when we've not been really tested," added the former Henley captain.

But first of all, Quins are concentrating all their efforts on their sixth-round clash at home to Hertford in the Powergen Intermediate Cup on Saturday (2).

It's the club's biggest game since they were formed by the merger of Oxford Old Boys and Oxford Marathon in the mid-1990s.

In the last round, Hertford, who top London Division 2, saw off Chinnor, whose coach Lynn Evans, passed on a few tips to Maudsley.

"Lynn's told me that it's a game we can definitely win, if we get things right on the day," said Maudsley, who must be relishing a place in the quarter-finals of a national competititon.

A full match preview will appear in Friday's Sportsmail.
