Tim Stevens, who has just stopped playing for Littlemore after 17 years, is Oxford University RFC's new administrator.
Stevens starts his new job next Monday, following the departure of Doreen Partridge.
The 40-year-old, with a career in sports administration and an abiding passion for rugby, would seem to be the ideal candidate for the post.
Stevens arrived in Oxford in 1984 with a degree in sports science. After working in private health clubs, he joined Oxford City Council's leisure department.
He ran the Northway Sports Centre, in Oxford, and Peers Sports Centre, Littlemore, before taking up a post of business support manager for Oxford Leisure.
Stevens, who was a goal-kicking centre for Littlemore, has a previous involvement with the Dark Blues.
"When Lynn Evans was coach at Iffley Road, I was the team's fitness adviser in the early 1990s and was lucky enough to manage a team tour to Ireland," said Stevens.
"In addition to the day-to-day administration duties, I see it as my job to increase the profile of Oxford University RFC.
Stevens will work alongside director of rugby Steve Hill, and part-time secretary Sandra Tyrrell.
Hill said: "Tim is a very experienced and well-reputed administrator and has a great enthusiasm for the game. I'm sure he will contribute a lot to the club."
