A man who stole from a series of Oxford shops to pay for his drug habit has been ordered to comply with drug treatment.
The order was made by Oxford magistrates on Monday after Adam White, of Sunnymead Court, Cutteslowe, Oxford, admitted a spree of shoplifting offences last year.
White, 25, had admitted stealing items worth 69p from the Co-op on May 29, theft of goods from Sainsbury's worth £32.98 and £121.89 on August 6 and November 5 respectively, and attempted theft of items worth £119 from Habitat on October 10.
He also admitted going equipped for theft on August 6 by having a carrier bag lined with tinfoil to evade electronic security systems. He also admitted taking a car without consent, driving it dangerously and without insurance, driving whilst disqualified and failing to surrender to bail. White was sentenced to undertake an 18-month residential drug treatment and testing order at a drugs rehabilitation centre. He was banned from driving for 12 months.
