A Sustrans cycle lane through Wallingford has been condemned by town councillors as a disaster.
The Bristol-based sustainable transport organisation was heavily criticised at a Wallingford council meeting. Local MP Robert Jackson is being told of the council's criticisms.
Council members said the joint project between Sustrans and Oxfordshire County Council had made the cycle lane too narrow and put it through drains, potholes and broken parts of the road. The surface had not been laid in some places, dug up again in others, and obliterated road markings.
Cllr Alec Hayton said: "What they have done in our town is a disgrace."
Mike Wasley, an assistant engineer in the county council's major projects team, said there had been complaints from the town council, but the county council had plans to put things right.
