A Wallingford grandmother who was off work for a week after badly bruising herself falling down icy steps said they must be made safer.
Marion Comley slipped on the steps where a path across the open space of Kinecroft meets Croft Road.
Mrs Comley, 58, of St John's Road, said: "These steps are lethal. They're a danger and a total disgrace.
"When I fell I was battered and bruised all over and very badly shaken up.
"I had to be off work for a week. I'm back now doing light duties as a domestic worker at Wallingford Community Hospital because it still hurts when I lift things."
When she fell she was helped by a woman jogger.
She said: "I was so shocked I never got the chance to get her name and thank her."
Mrs Comley has now complained to Oxfordshire County Council about the state of the steps.
Highways inspector Stephen Slade said: "There are handrails in place, the steps have anti-skid surfacing and there are notices saying they are uneven.
"Short of ripping them out and replacing them completely -- and I cannot see the financial situation allowing that to happen -- there's little more we can do."
