New CCTV security cameras have all angles in Witney town centre covered.
In the first four weeks since the system's launch, monitoring staff at the control centre have spotted 40 potential criminal incidents.
Each has led to the immediate summoning of police by radio and at least eight incidents are expected to result in criminal charges being brought. Staff have also summoned help after pensioners have taken a tumble in the street.
Witney's crime reduction officer Pc Adrian Cole said: "We've got Witney town centre covered, even at night."
The system has 24 cameras. Five staff work in shifts to monitor the cameras round the clock.
