OFA Sam Waters Cup
Tom Jerred's 'golden goal' sealed Star Wanderers' place in the last eight of the Sam Waters Cup after a hard-fought 2-1 win over Henley.
In a fairly even first half, both sides had chances to take the lead but it wasn't until early in the second half that the deadlock was broken, Leon Butcher netting for the visitors, following a goalmouth scramble.
Star had to withstand some concerted pressure from Henley before Craig Simpson equalised, capitalising on a mix up between Henley's keeper and a defender.
Henley faded in extra time, allowing Wanderers to dominate, but it wasn't until the second period that a long kick from Nick Heritage was superbly brought down by Jerred who then lobbed the keeper for the winner.
It was double relief for Jerred who had played the first half in borrowed boots several sizes too small for him before his own size 12 boots were fetched from Eynsham.
Both Mansfield Road and Blackbird Leys Sunday also won their delayed ties to make it six MOSFL Premier Division sides in the last eight.
