An armed robber escaped with £1,000 after holding up a health food store in Summertown, Oxford, yesterday.
A man armed with a knife walked into the Holland & Barrett shop in Banbury Road and demanded that two staff members open the safe.
He stuffed about £1,000 into a Sainsbury's carrier bag before making off through the back of the shop.
Police surrounded the shop after being called out at about 5.50pm, but the robber was long gone.
Holland & Barrett's area manager declined to comment on the robbery.
Detectives were today appealing for witnesses.
Detective Inspector Rob Mason said: "The two staff members were left very shaken by this robbery and I would appeal for anyone who saw the offender making his escape to get in touch as soon as possible."
The robber wore a balaclava over his face and jeans. He was of medium build and about 6ft tall.
Anyone who saw anything is asked to call Oxford CID on 01865 266333, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
